Growth is an unrelenting process, and every one of us has our journey. Much like the plants around us, we humans undergo our version of photosynthesis. We all begin with potential, like a seed with the promise of life. Then the fostering atmosphere in which we find ourselves propels our development.

When a seed is planted in soil, one of the key ingredients it needs is water. Water serves as the lifeblood, providing nourishment and sustenance for the seed to germinate and grow. Similarly, water is to plants what experiences are to humans. It’s through these experiences — both joyful and challenging — that we learn, adapt, and ultimately grow. Just as a plant absorbs water to fuel its growth, we absorb knowledge, skills, and insights from the world around us. Every interaction, and every lesson, contributes to our personal growth.

Also, the plant absorbs carbon dioxide from the air and converts it into sugars. This sugar, coupled with minerals from the soil, is utilised to make food. Likewise, as humans we are unable to do without support systems that fuel our development — be it education, mentorship, or emotional encouragement from loved ones.

Because growth is not without its struggles. Just as a plant must endure the harsh elements of nature, we too face obstacles along our journey. But it is in these moments of adversity that we find our greatest growth opportunities and discover the true extent of our resilience and determination.

When Moses Kanduri, the CEO of ALEXpay was asked who his greatest competitors were — he responded, “My greatest competition is myself”. The response was short but very profound. It teaches us to never stop growing because that’s the only way one remains invaluable.

“Clarity of purpose is the clear understanding of what success means to you and an image of yourself as a success while making sure everything you do is consistent with your clarity of purpose”.

Every step you take in that direction makes your purpose clearer. Set achievable goals. Be disciplined. Forgive yourself when you fail. Approach every adversity in life with optimism. Learning is a lifelong process that comes to an end only when one dies. As we continue to grow, we shift perspectives, our priorities change, and we discover new facets of ourselves.
