What is this phase teaching you?

That a person you lent money can flat out refuse to repay their debt.

A lot of small epiphanies. A lot of big epiphanies. The world as we know it today works on the human capacity to feel fear. And amongst all of the fear-mongering, notwithstanding that some of these fears are legitimate, it is easy to let others talk fear into our plans.

So much so that when a friend reached out asking to be loaned money that had originally been intended for a different purpose, I immediately responded by asking the friend to share with me the account information for the bank where they would like the money sent. Thinking about it now, I do not particularly regret the knee-jerk reaction, but I know better than to give a loan out of the fear that “who knows tomorrow?”

While fear is one of the seven basic universal emotions, humans interpret it differently as a consequence of their socialization. And the plethora of prank videos on the internet supports the argument that, while everyone experiences fear, what triggers it varies from person to person. It is then up to the one to train their mind to choose when to feel fear.

As Asa, the great singer and philosopher, in a song titled “No One Knows,” reiterates the undeniable fact that no one knows tomorrow, the charge is upon you to remove all of the fear in your heart and make every day count.

Getting to know oneself on any level requires a deliberateness and a sacrifice that is hardly acknowledged. The cost of attaining any level of mastery is, for the most part, ignored. But the reward is in consistently persisting amidst the fear, doing it anyway.

And what is this phase teaching me? To stay hydrated and remain at ease so that the center can continue to hold. What is this phase teaching you? You choose.
